Past Residents Simo Kellokumpu
Simo Kellokumpu is a Finnish choreographer and a doctoral candidate in Artistic Research in the Performing Arts Research Center at the Theatre Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki. His on-going artistic research –project ‘Atmospheric Choreography: Choreography as a reading practice towards contemporary movement ecology’ focuses on the relations, interconnectedness and reciprocity of choreography, movement, corporeality, embodiment and surrounding matter and material. The research process has been shared as artistic proposals, performative lectures, presentations and workshops in various platforms and places such as Reykjavik Dance Festival (2014), The Research Pavilion in Venice (2015) CARPA the fourth colloquium on Artistic Research in Performing Arts (2015) and one of the artistic projects of the research was presented in the PSi#22 Performance Climates -conference in Melbourne on July 2016.
Kellokumpu’s residency at Tokyo Wonder Site is organised in collaboration with the Finnish Cultural Foundation in the context of Finland-Asia Exchange Programme.
In Tokyo Wonder Site -residency Kellokumpu approaches contemporary Tokyo-in-motion with a new mobility paradigm and science-fiction. The residency -project is an artistic collaboration with the French-Basque artist and researcher Vincent Roumagnac.
