Rintaro Hara (b. 1973 in Yokohama, Japan) has a BA from Tokyo Zokei University, Japan and an MA from Sandberg, Netherlands. Rintaro works with kinetic installations using balls, motors, and light to representing digital images in an analog way. He has exhibited in Japan, Germany, Iceland and the US.
During my stay, I will be working on my upcoming exhibition in Forum Box gallery. In the installation Ascending and Descending, I illustrate the duality of these natural phenomena by creating a physical space the audience can experience. I often work by creating site-specific installations which utilize the characteristics of the exhibition space and, lately, I have been working on astronomy phenomena, in particular, using lights, wooden structures, and mechanics. —Rintaro
