Nataliia Kushnir
Natalia Kushnir is an artist working with painting, sculpture, video and installations. She studied painting at the Odessa Art College and the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. In her artistic practice, the leading theme of her works is an attempt to analyse and understand human problems through the prism of nature. In a world where death and wars between plant and fungi species unfold, Natalia draws inspiration to create works that reflect this confrontation. One of the key aspects of her work is the use of materials collected from the environment or natural sources. Since 2021, she has been a member of the Odessa artist community OSRZ-2.
In the HIAP residency, I plan to explore the area and its particularities through the lens of my artistic approach. I am thinking of creating either animations or sculptures, depending on the materials and inspirations I find along the way. My main interest is in interacting with the environment and discovering the connections between nature and the human experience. This residency offers a unique opportunity to engage with a new landscape and community, deepening my research and expanding the dialogue in my practice.
