Marlene Posch
Marlene Leonie Posch (*1994 Vienna / AT) lives and works in Vienna. She studied Transmedia Art as well as Sculpure from 2017 until 2023 with Brigitte Kowanz, Jakob Lena Knebl and Hans Schabus (VIE). In her work, Marlene Leonie Posch draws on existing knowledge and habits in dealing with forms and objects that everyone recognizes or understands. A bed… a box… a container… She questions the functional logics attributed to these objects through techniques of abstraction and recontextualization. In this process the meaning of referenced objects is continuously extended. Manual repetition of modules and sequences gives rise to a recurring narrative in her work.
I work with veneer, a fragile yet versatile material, that shapes both physical and metaphorical spaces. During the residency, I will deepen my understanding of veneer through experiments with modular and foldable structures, by integrating local woodworking traditions and architectural approaches into my practice.
