Katja Aglert

Katja Aglert (b. 1970), Sweden
Katja Aglert’s practice is multidisciplinary in nature and includes both individual and collaborative projects in video, installation, performance and works on paper. The critical and intellectual foundation of Aglert’s artistic practice takes its point of departure from her interest in re-thinking and critically investigating how power structures and norms of everyday life affect aspects of society and history.
In Aglert’s work, the situation and context of each individual project usually direct decisions for method, the formal display and choice of material. She often aims for a dialogical process with the people and contexts she is working with, in an effort of establish a participative experience as part of the artistic process. As a result her projects are often site sensitive and include dialogue or concrete collaborations with local constituents on different levels.
