Juliane Foronda

Juliane Foronda (she/her) is a Filipina-Canadian artist, writer, and researcher. Predominantly through object, intervention and text, her practice is invested in notions of radical care, feminist hospitality, and traditions of gathering. Juliane received her MA in Fine Arts from Listaháskóli Íslands/Iceland University of the Arts, and her BA in Studio Art from the University of Guelph. Juliane is based between Toronto (CAN) and Glasgow (UK).

During my residency at HIAP, I plan to deepen my ongoing research into how domestic furnishings evoke, embody and/or offer gestures of radical hospitality through their form, function, and existence. I intend to work with/in local archives and collections towards this research, as well as host small gatherings throughout my time in Helsinki.
