Issa Touma

Issa Touma (b. 1962) is a self-taught photographer who lives and works in Aleppo, Syria. In 1992 he established Black and White Gallery, the first photography gallery in the Middle East. After its closure in 1996, Touma opened Le Pont Gallery, which continues to be the only gallery dedicated to photography in the region. The activities of Touma and his group, Le Pont Organisation, which include the gallery, the International Photography Festival and the International Woman’s Art Festival in Aleppo, annually draw in excess of 25 000 visitors, including international students, diplomats and the general public.

Issa Touma’s residency is organised in collaboration with HIAP and Perpetuum Mobile.
