Farbod Fakharzadeh

Farbod Fakharzadeh is an artist and curator based in Helsinki who holds a master’s degree in Visual Culture, Curating and Contemporary Art from Aalto University. Over the years he has co-initiated several projects like Taidekirppis, an artist-run archive and platform, and Ars Pori Megastore, a collective exhibition making model using temporary commercial spaces. He has worked as a lecturer and curriculum advisor at Node Center for curatorial studies, as a co-artistic director for Catalysti ry, and an associate producer for Kenno Filmi. In 2022, he was a co-curator of Rehearsing Hospitalities public program by Frame Contemporary Art Finland.

During my residency at HIAP, I plan to continue my research on the intersection of history and memory and the curatorial potential as a tool for tackling questions of collectivity and commoning while fostering possibilities of collaboration with the artists in residence.

I would also love to bring my kitchen based project, Recipes For Commoning, to HIAP through organizing a series of public programming around dinner gatherings. Recipes For Commoning is a series of intimate and informal conversations with art professionals across different geographies who work with ideas and practices related to commoning, collectivity, funding, economical sustainability, and resource sharing.
