Andrii Kyrychenko

Andrii Kyrychenko (b. 1982, Kyiv) is a Ukrainian ceramic artist, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 2015, and the International Academy of Ceramics since 2019. He has been practicing ceramics professionally for over 25 years, combining craft with artistic practice and international cultural activity. His works are held in nine museums worldwide, including in Italy, Spain, China, South Korea, and Ukraine. Since 2022, he has been in France due to the war and continues to actively pursue his artistic practice. Recently, he has been developing educational programs in ceramic arts.

During my residency, I plan to continue developing my porcelain series “Flowering Phases”, which has been exhibited internationally and received awards at various competitions. This project allows me to explore contemporary ceramic practices while deepening my engagement with material and form. I see this work as highly relevant, both artistically and personally, as it represents a space of creative immersion that is currently difficult to access due to my circumstances. The residency will provide the ideal environment to experiment, refine techniques, and push the series forward, sharing the process and outcomes with a wider audience through exhibitions and social media.

Andrii Kyrychenko’s residency at Värtsilä Art House Residency is realised in the context of the Ukraine Solidarity Residencies programme. The current partners of the programme are AARK, Art Centre Salmela, Fairres, Goethe-Institut Finnland, HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme, Nelimarkka Museum, Pro Artibus, The Finnish Darkroom Association, The Finnish Illustration Association Kuvittajat, Vantaa Artist Association, and Värtsilä Art House Residency. The continuation of the programme is possible due to the support of the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and Nordic Culture Point
