HIAP Residencies for Finnish and Finland-based Art Practitioners in 2022

HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme invites Finnish and Finland-based art practitioners to apply for residencies in Suomenlinna and Cable Factory in the year 2022. The HIAP Residency Programme focuses on visual art but is open for art professionals from other disciplines as well. The programme offers time and space for open-ended research and experimentation, without the requirement to produce finalised work.

The residents in Suomenlinna and Cable Factory will have access to services such as weekly residency community meetings, access to facilities and equipment, meetings with a supporting curator and the possibility to take part in the HIAP Open Studios event which normally takes place towards the end of each residency season. The selected residents are required to cover a monthly fee which includes rent, electricity, water, internet and HIAP residency services. For HIAP Suomenlinna apartments the fee is 450 € per month and for HIAP Cable Factory live/work studios 700 € per month. Please note that the local residencies are not supported by a travel or working grant, nor include a production budget.

The HIAP Suomenlinna apartments are 30 sqm each, furnished, and include a kitchenette and a bathroom. The apartments can house up to two persons at a time. Please note that there is no separate working space in the apartment, and it’s not suitable for working on large-scale pieces. Instead, the selected residents are entitled to a workspace at HIAP Gallery Augusta or HIAP Project Space.
