HIAP Residency Programme / 3-month residency / 2024
HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme invites artists and other art practitioners to apply for residencies in Suomenlinna and Cable Factory for the year 2024. This international open call is for artists who are not based in Finland.
The HIAP Residency Programme focuses on visual art but is open to art professionals from other disciplines as well. The programme offers time and support for developing new work in dialogue with the local art scene. The residency time can be used for open-ended research and experimentation, without the requirement to produce a finalised piece of work.
HIAP Suomenlinna atelier apartments are approx 80 sqm each, furnished, and divided into a working space downstairs and a separate living space consisting of a sleeping area, bathroom, kitchenette, and a loft upstairs. The atelier apartments can accommodate 2-4 persons. Family members are welcome in all our locations. Please note that pets are not allowed in the apartments.
HIAP Cable Factory live/work studios are 63 sqm each, furnished, and include a working and living area with a kitchenette, a sleeping loft and a private bathroom. The studios can comfortably accommodate two adults or a small family. Please note that pets are not allowed in the apartments.
The 3-month residencies can be applied by artists and other art practitioners. The residency does not involve financial obligations or support (the resident does not have to pay a fee to HIAP, and there is no working grant, travel funding or production budget from HIAP).
The available residency periods for 3-month residencies are:
– Winter: 8 January – 7 April 2024 at HIAP Suomenlinna
– Spring: 15 April – 15 July 2024 at HIAP Suomenlinna or HIAP Cable Factory
HIAP can grant four 3-month residencies from this open call. The selection of the residents will be made by Farbod Fakharzadeh and Riikka Thitz in dialogue with HIAP Director Juha Huuskonen. Farbod Fakharzadeh and Riikka Thitz are independent curators who are at residence at HIAP Suomenlinna during Sept 2023-July 2024.
