HIAP Residency Programme / 11-month artist residency

HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme invites Finnish and Finland-based artists to apply an 11-month residency at HIAP Suomenlinna atelier apartment for the period January 2024-November 2024.

The HIAP Residency Programme focuses on visual art but is open to art professionals from other disciplines as well. The programme offers time and support for developing new work in dialogue with the local art scene. The residency time can be used for open-ended research and experimentation, without the requirement to produce a finalised piece of work.

HIAP Suomenlinna atelier apartments are approx 80 sqm each, furnished, and divided into a working space downstairs and a separate living space consisting of a sleeping area, bathroom, kitchenette, and a loft upstairs. The atelier apartments can accommodate 2-4 persons. Family members are welcome in all our locations. Please note that pets are not allowed in the apartments.

The residency does not involve financial obligations or support (the resident does not have to pay a fee to HIAP, and there is no working grant or production budget from HIAP).

The available residency period for the 11-month residency is 8 January – 3o November 2024. HIAP is able to offer one residency for this time period.

The selection of the resident will be made by Kati Kivinen (curator, HIAP board member, Head of Exhibitions at HAM Helsinki Art Museum) in dialogue with HIAP Director Juha Huuskonen.

The deadline for the applications is Tuesday, October 31st, 2023 (11:59 pm, GMT +3).

More information about the residency programme and the facilities is available here: https://www.hiap.fi/residency/
