Open Call for HIAP Residency Programme in 2018

HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme is happy to announce an open call for residencies taking place at HIAP Suomenlinna and HIAP Cable Factory in 2018.

International artists are eligible to apply for residencies of 3 months and Finnish artists for a residency of 11 months. The residencies cover accommodation and studio space free of charge. The selected international artists will in addition receive a monthly working grant and a travel allowance.

HIAP Residency Programme focuses on contemporary art but is open for art professionals from other disciplines as well. The programme offers time and space for open-ended research and experimentation, without the requirement to produce finalized pieces or work.

The deadline for the applications is Wednesday, June 28, 2017. All the applications must be submitted by using an online application form.

HIAP Residency Programme is HIAP’s main residency programme, which has welcomed international artists to Helsinki since the year 1998.

Where: HIAP Suomenlinna and HIAP Cable Factory in Helsinki, Finland

Duration of residency: 3 months. The programme at HIAP is divided into three residency seasons:

Spring (March – May)
Summer (June – August)
Autumn (September – November)

The applicants will be asked to state their preferred residency period in the application form.

The selected artists will receive:

  • accommodation and studio space free of charge
  • a monthly working grant of 1200€
  • a travel allowance from the country of residence to Finland

The main funders of HIAP Residency Programme are Taike Arts Promotion Centre Finland, Ministry of Education and Culture and City of Helsinki. With the support of the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture by Nordic Culture Point, artists based in Nordic and Baltic countries are eligible for an additional support in the form of a production budget.

HIAP Residency programme for Finnish artists offers a possibility to work in a stimulating milieu in the middle of maritime Helsinki in close contact with the international artist community at HIAP. Applications are accepted both from artists who live and work in Finland (Finnish nationality is not required) and artists of Finnish nationality who live and work abroad.

Where: HIAP Suomenlinna in Helsinki, Finland

Duration of residency: 11 months (February – December 2018).

The selected artist will receive:

  • accommodation and studio space free of charge

The studio is 80 sq meters, furnished, and divided into a working space downstairs and a separate living space with bathroom and kitchenette. The studio has a broadband internet connection and is suitable for a single artist or a family.
