Thanks to support from Nordic Culture Point’s Funding for Artist Residencies, five organisations invested in tangible approaches to sustainable material practices for artists and communities will collaborate on a new pilot residency programme – ‘Learning Materials’.

‘Learning Materials’ will foster opportunities to experiment with socially engaged, process orientated and material driven practices.

In Spring 2026, 3 artists living in the Nordic Baltic region will come to Helsinki for 3 months to undertake residencies focusing on the following themes:

Waste and circular economies
Material legacies and biomaterials
Tourism and greenwashing

Selected through open call, this residency programme will be the first time the partners have collaborated in one group to pool expertise, resources and facilities in this way. The open call will be announced in August 2025.

We are thankful to Nordic Culture Point for this support and hope this is just the beginning – the outcomes of this residency and feedback from the artists will be used to develop the future activities of the project.
