Unfolding Island Ecologies

Unfolding Island Ecologies is a group exhibition presented by the University of the Arts Helsinki at HIAP Gallery Augusta, Suomenlinna.

 4-19 June

Unfolding Island Ecologies brings together international artists from the University of the Arts Helsinki whose works respond to the unique island environment of Suomenlinna. Through multimedia installations, performances, and participatory works, the exhibition explores themes of ecological vulnerability, resource constraints, and multispecies interconnectedness.

The exhibition is an outcome of the Ecological Thinking (2024-25) course organized by Dr. Samir Bhowmik (Academy Research Fellow) at the Academy of Fine Arts in collaboration with Helsinki Biennial 2025 and the University of the Arts Helsinki. The exhibition is part of the Terra-Performing Project funded by the Research Council of Finland.
