Tony Florentino: Riding the Falling Flux

16 – 18 December, Gallery Augusta

An exhibition of new works by Tony Fiorentino, HIAP artist-in-residence. Opening on Tuesday, 16 December at 5–7 pm. Snacks and drinks will be served. You’re warmly welcome!

The idea for this exhibition came from a series of failed projects, unrealised because of meteorological reasons, that find their stability through a continual research for alternatives. This becomes an opportunity to try new ways of representation, falling between a solution and a waiver. Ideas that didn’t work during the residency period become works that are shown with new identities, taking a direction that might not necessarily be the final one.

Tony Fiorentino was born in Barletta, Italy and lives and works in Milan. After his studies he moved to Carrara, attended the Academy of Fine Arts. Fiorentino has taken part in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad: Concrete Ghost, American Academy in Rome (2014); From & to, National Centre of Contemporary Art, Villa Arson, Nice/Kunst Merano (2013); Open Studio, Viafarini, Milano; Corso Aperto CSAV – Artists Research Laboratory, Antonio Ratti Foundation, Como (2013); Contemporary Locus V, Domus Lucina, Bergamo (2013); Sotto la strada, la spiaggia, Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, Turin (2012); Open House, reapproriation & possession, Salon Flux, London (2012); Officine dell’Arte, Care of Docva Viafarini, Milan (2011); Makroart – International Chart Project, Athens (2009); Famous Fantastic Caprices, Anotati skoli Kalon Tecknon, Athens (2009; Biennial of Carrara “Infieri”, Academy of Fine Arts, Carrara (2008). In 2012, he received the emerging arts award, Talent Prize-Meta Energia.

The exhibition will be on view at Gallery Augusta on Wednesday and Thursday 10 am–5 pm.
