Wednesday, 20 August, 5–7 pm, Gallery Augusta
Peer-to-Peers provide the resident artists with an opportunity to present their work to a local colleagues and audiences in an informal and relaxed setting. In August, Peer-to-Peer features Australian designers/makers, Mandi King and Karen Cunningham.
Mandi King (Masters of Visual Arts, UniSA) and Karen Cunningham (Creative Director, JamFactory Glass Studio) form a collaborative sustainable design project, illumini. Their focus in Helsinki has been to investigate Nordic social culture and environmental history and it’s influences on Scandinavia’s craft and design practices.
They will give an overview of the history of their individual practices, collaborative projects, and observations from three months traveling and speaking with various designers, artists, and business people across the region.
Mandi King and Karen Cunningham are in Helsinki as part of Australian Artists Programme, organised by Australia Council for the Arts in collaboration with HIAP.
