Julia Tcharfas: Echo-system – an audio drama

Events are free and open to the public.
Presentations will be in English.
Refreshments are provided.

Echo-system is an acoustic performance by Julia Tcharfas. The event is based in the Wayward Plants’ Urban Garden in the Everyday Discoveries exhibition. In case of poor weather the talk will take place inside the exhibition’s shipping container adjacent to the garden.

Echo-system invites visitors to the Plant Tram Garden for scientific tales of plants, people, and space travel. Set as a multi-media presentation, the live audio drama consists of a constellation of scenarios that attempt to model new worlds. Join in for a discussion on the futures of our past, and our communal technological folklore.

Julia Tcharfas (b. 1982, Ukraine) is an artist-in-residence at HIAP. Recent events and exhibitions include Cafe Visionaire (2012) at Limazulu Project Space in London, The Really Wild Show (2012) at White Building in London, and Summer School (2012) at Gerald Moore Gallery in Mottingham.

The event is part of the Social Responsibility & Design Artist Residency organised by the British Council in association with Arts De Signs – Signalling Art as Social Design -programme. Arts De Signs – Signalling Art as a Social Design is part of the World Design Capital 2012 Helsinki.
