HIAP Talks in Autumn 2011 opens with a panel discussion

The HIAP Talks series will be continued with an exceptional panel debate on The Politics of Programming Residencies, chaired by Jonas Ekeberg, editor-in-chief of www.kunstkritikk.no. Held on September 22 at 4 pm as part of the all-day Nordic-Baltic AiRFair, Ekeberg will be joined by other prominent speakers from the region and the local scene to debate and reflect on current issues in the contemporary field.

Next in the line of distinguished guests, HIAP Talks will host Yang Fudong (Shanghai, b.1971), one of China’s most talented artists, and a leading representative of video and film art world-wide. This event will include a screening of several early and most recent works which have remained largely inaccessible to a wider audience. This unique event runs parallel to Yang Fudong’s exhibition at the Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA), and will take place at Gallery Augusta (Suomenlinna) on September 29 at 6 pm.

The season’s HIAP Talks will continue on this high note with professor Sarat Maharaj, curator of Documenta X and the Gothenburg Biennial 2011, as well as David Elliott, curator of the Sydney Biennial in 2010 and a former director of Tokyo’s Mori Museum, Istanbul’s Modern Art Museum and Stockholm’s Moderne Museet.

HIAP Talks is curated by Marita Muukkonen.
