HIAP Open Studios: Paola Anziché & Triin Valvas

Saturday, 19 September, 12–4 pm.

HIAP Open Studios provides the resident artists with an opportunity to present their work to local colleagues and audience in an informal and relaxed setting. In September, HIAP Open Studios features artists Paola Anziché and Triin Valvas. The event is a part of the official programme of Suomenlinna’s village fete Väkevä Viapori – Spirit of Suomenlinna, held between 18–20 September.

In her practice Paola Anziché investigates through medias and heterogeneous materials, the possibility for art to cross and connect distant areas to each other. Every aspect of her art practice is based on its relationship with the user. During her residency stay, Anziché has been researching traditional weaving techniques and textiles uses in Finnish costumography.

Triin Valvas is a production designer and an illustrator living and working in Tallinn. Currently she is working on a comic book about an introvert Eastern European man named Viktor making his first ever trip abroad to Helsinki. The book explores the individual experiences as a tourist, run-ins with locals and other nationalities seeking a better life here as well as the overall feel of the city and the places worth visiting.

The visitors can move around and explore the artists’ studios freely. Snacks and refreshments will be served. Welcome!
