(c) Mark Hislop
Friday, 29 January, 4–8 PM, HIAP Suomenlinna Studios
HIAP Open Studio event provides the resident artists with an opportunity to present their work to local colleagues and audience in an informal and relaxed setting. In September, HIAP Open Studio features Australian artist Mark Hislop as the culmination of a three month residency at HIAP Suomenlinna.
NO MAPS FOR US: For many of us navigation is prosaic. It is a process to get from one place to another, from home to a destination. It changes from being an instruction — a science of calculation and control — to something that is learnt, known and habitual. As we refine and adopt preferred routes, navigation loses its authority, it becomes obsolete and the temptation is to explore, to lose ourselves.
Mark Hislop (1962) is an Australian artist. He completed a Master of Art at Chelsea School of Art and Design, London and has been awarded numerous grants and scholarships. He has exhibited throughout Australia and in London and New York and his work is held in public collections in Australia and private collections in UK and USA.
