HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme is happy to announce the Finnish art practitioners selected to HIAP Residency Programme 2019. Artist Andrey Bogush, artist Marie-Andrée Godin and artist-researcher duo Antti Salminen & Saara Hannula were each granted a 11-month residency at HIAP Suomenlinna or Cable Factory.

The residents were selected via an open call where HIAP received a total of 124 applications. The jury included Juha Huuskonen (Director, HIAP), Marina Valle Noronha (Curator, HIAP), Saara Karhunen (Residency Programme Manager, HIAP), Ahmed Al-Nawas (Substitute Member of the HIAP Board; Curator) and Miina Hujala (HIAP Associate; Curator). The jury wanted to consider how the residency would impact on the applicant’s practice in a longer perspective. The aim of the programme is to offer time and space for open-ended research and experimentation, without the requirement to produce finalized pieces of work.

In addition to the Finnish residents selected, there are going to be approximately 35 international residents at HIAP in 2019, who are selected via invitation or specific open calls arranged with HIAP’s programme partner organisations.
