Using a variety of techniques, Sandström’s work often takes the form of installations and texts developed from a specific issue or situation. She is interested in layers of everyday life and magic made visible. Thematically the work currently revolves around memory, sense of longing and loss, and an urge to share experiences with others. It makes one think beyond conventional borders and categories, opening up a space for participation, on both emotional as well as factual levels. Together with curator Joanna Sandell, Sandström has recently founded a publishing firm for artists’ books, Labyrint Press and Archive, whish is located in Botkyrka Konsthall, a contemporary art space in Stockholm.
