Silence Project

Silence Project is an initiative by Finnish artist and curator Nina Backman. The project connects the work of independently operating artists with cultural and social entities to allow the study of, and experiments with, the cornerstone concept of ‘silence’ in relation to new urban realities.

The participating artists are Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir, Lise Björne Linnert, Sari Palosaari, Marja Helander, Mia Hamari and invited guests. They work at HIAP Suomenlinna studios, share ideas, and develop artworks around the thematics of the project.

This first phase of the Silence Project will culminate in the end of November in Gallery Augusta, where the participants exhibit their artistic processes and artworks as well as organise a performance Silence Meal for invited guests.
