Sharon Paz (b. 1969)

Sharon Paz develops installations using mainly the medium of video and performance. They are related to a social and political context in relation to her biography. The works are telling a story which is visual, non linear and fragmented. Her inspiration comes from the space around, visual inputs of daily existence and images from the media. She is drawn into images that present conflicted situations and create an absurd situation. Paz uses layers of different timelines within one space, creating a new construction of reality.

Sharon Paz was born in Israel, received a MFA from Hunter College. She now lives and works in Berlin. Paz recent project Shaded Windows in Pavillion am Milchhof, was supported by the Senate of Cultural Affairs, Berlin. In 2010 Paz participated in Goldrausch Artist program in Berlin.
